Position Summary:

Swink Coplen & Company, P.C. is searching for a manager of tax services, a crucial role within our organization. The tax manager will be responsible for leading the tax department, managing client relationships, and providing expert tax advice. Your role involves overseeing tax compliance, planning, and consulting services for a diverse client base.

Responsibilities: 

• Oversee the preparation and review of various tax returns, including individual, corporate, partnership, and trust returns.
• Stay up to date with tax laws and regulations to ensure clients’ compliance.
• Provide strategic tax planning advice to clients, including identifying tax-saving opportunities and optimizing their tax positions.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships by serving as their primary point of contact for tax-related matters.
• Understand clients’ business operations and financial objectives to provide tailored tax solutions.
• Manage a team of tax professionals, including tax associates and senior tax staff.
• Assign tasks, provide guidance, and oversee their professional development.
• Conduct performance evaluations and offer coaching and mentoring as needed.
• Educate clients on tax implications, strategies, and planning opportunities.
• Analyze the potential impact of tax changes on clients’ financial situations and advise accordingly.
• Participate in business development activities, such as networking events, firm-wide meetings, and prospective client meetings.
• Identify opportunities to expand the firm’s client base and services.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a professional accounting firm.
• Several years of experience in tax accounting, with a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Experience using CCH tax software, including CCH Axcess Tax, Practice Management, and Workstream preferred, but not required.
